Wicca

What is Wicca? It is a Pagan, earth-based religion, generally with a God and a Goddess figure, and which usually includes a style of low magick called "Witchcraft". Practitioners of that magick are often called "Witches". A lot of people use the terms "Pagan" and "Wiccan" interchangeably, but this is erroneous, as Wicca is but one of many Pagan religions. Many also use the terms "Witch" and "Wiccan" interchangeably, and I've been given to understand that this is technically inaccurate as well, although historically those who don't know what they're talking about often set the rules for the English language and may have inadvertantly given credibility to this particular confusion.

One tenet of Wicca is that each person is responsible for taking care not to cause harm in their works, as shown in the Rede of Wicca: "An it harm none, do what thou wilt." Some consider this "harm none" clause to be a denial of the very real harshness of Life, and often refer to this type of thinking as "fluffy-bunny", bringing to mind images of a Bambi-esque dream world. This term is often meant in a derrogatory way, but not always.
